The Kelvin Bar
Glasgow’s Newest Old Pub
The Kelvin Bar, named after Lord Kelvin himself, offers something rather old fashioned – good drinks at old prices.
Located in Finnieston and part of Glasgow’s famous Lorne Hotel, the Kelvin Bar is sat on the corner of Sauchiehall Street and Kelvingrove Street inside the renovated grand Edwardian flats. Quite literally years in the making, the Kelvin bar has been in the works for almost a decade. The building was bought in 2007 by the Lorne and renovated in 2008. Originally, the corner bar was left undeveloped in favour of the Bilberry Cocktail Bar, but in 2016, the Kelvin Bar is finally ready to open… but with a nod to 2007 prices! The average price of a pint of lager in 2007 was £2.51, and that’s exactly why you’ll find our very own specially made Kentigern’s Lager for £2.50 on draught.
We are proud to be Scottish and are unashamedly Glasgow-centric in our drinks selection. As well as a range of traditional beers, we offer something craft beer connoisseurs, and are the first bar to offer the entire range from Scottish Brewery Harviestoun, in addition to our very own Kentigern’s lager. We also stock Scotland’s first dark rum, Dark Matter, and the celebrated Arbikie Vodka which is distilled with pride in the Highlands following a centuries-old method. Additionally, the gantry is stocked to the brim with fine Scottish Malts, classic Scottish soft drinks from Barr and crafted gins from all over the country.
There are also regular nights at the Kelvin including live sports and a selection of all things Scottish!
